Assuming that he got Angry Birds through Android Market – follow these steps.
1. Go to Market
2. Menu Select and select My Apps.
3. Scroll to the app that says Update above the star rating, and select it.
4. You would be given the option to update.
5. You would have to select a couple of more things, and the update will download. You also have an option to auto-update.
